Carron Lodge Ltd. opened a 4th distribution centre in Wimbledon, to enable greater coverage of the South East along with daily deliveries to wholesalers, independent retailers, hotels, bars and restaurants in the capital.
Due to the closure of the Buffalo milk supplier Carron Lodge decided upon maintaining its own herd of water buffalo to enhance the product range, producing Inglewhite Buffalo, a hard cheddar type cheese and Shipston Blue, a semi -soft blue veined cheese, matured in our cave. Carron Lodge is now one of the major wholesalers and distributors of cheese and associated products throughout the UK.
In June 2009 Carron Lodge Ltd. bought Park View Foods of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire increasing the distribution area to cover East Anglia and the South East of England. In the same year 4 Gold Awards were won at Nantwich International Cheese Show including Best Farmhouse White Cheshire
In 2005 a second satellite depot was opened to serve the South and Southwest of England in Birdlip. A decision was taken to commence work towards BRC Global Standard for Food Safety.
In 2003 a major building upgrade began in order to improve standards to the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety. Park Head Farm increases size of herd and all cows milk is now sourced exclusively from Park Head Farm’s herd of pedigree Holsteins. Both goat and sheep milk were being sourced from local farms to increase the cheese range.
With the help of his wife, Annette, the business grew steadily until 1996 when the business was incorporated and became ‘Carron Lodge.’ Cheese production increased to 170 tonnes and milk now sourced from local farms as well as their own.
…in the early 1900’s when Duillia Rhodes made cheese for her parents on the family farm whilst her brothers worked the land. She married Bob Singleton and this eventually led to ‘Singletons Dairy’ being established. The Rhodes family had lost their cheesemaker but the recipes remained intact until 1988 when Adrian Rhodes, together with his parents revived the art of cheese making on the farm trading as ‘Rhodes Cheese’ supplying the ‘Farmhouse Cheese Makers Association’.

A smooth hard cheese. Made with ewes milk, sourced locally from Simon Stott at Laund Farm, Chipping, our Inglewhite Sheeps cheese has a creamy, caramel like sweetness with a smooth, bright white paste. It is matured for up to 5 months and is also available smoked. An tasty alternative to those intolerant to cows milk cheese.
Our Creamy Lancashire is made here on the farm with milk from our herd of pedigree Holstein Friesians. Like our Crumbly Lancashire our Farmhouse Creamy Lancashire is sold young whilst it’s at it’s best. An excellent melting cheese it makes a Great British alternative to mozzarella on lasagna or in a cheese an onion pie!
What is it about our melt-in-the-mouth Crumbly Lancashire, that’s won it so many awards? Is it the moist, yet fluffy texture that makes it feel as though your “eating clouds” or is it the fresh and zesty flavour that makes the judges mouths water? We don’t age our Crumbly Lancashire for any more than 2 weeks to ensure that it’s sent to our customers in it’s prime. With a variety of shape and size formats there’s a size to suit everyone.
